After I made the jump from traditional advertising to social media in 2013, my first client was Olay Skincare. I worked as a Community Manager mainly, writing content, managing pages, scheduling posts and responding to community comments. Eventually I began to create original content as well, and travel to execute event coverage for the various brands under Olay.
The organic/authentic photography approach (as opposed to graphic design/highly Photoshopped) of image creation back in 2014 was still fresh in the social media world, and we were pioneers. After the following images went live, the account saw a growth in followers, engagement rate and a 30% increase in likes across all page content:
I covered award shows live, and in war-rooms with multi-agency partners and clients present. The high-stakes, fast-paced nature of these events were exhilarating. This exclusive content, which often turned into tweets and posts that still hold the record for the highest-performing content on Olay’s channels today.
